How rplist checks a server's player count
Fake player counts are real on FiveM: services sell “players” to push servers up lists that sort by player count, and Cfx.re confirmed in 2025 that they exist. rplist ranks servers by players, so it checks whether each count behaves like people. Servers that pass carry the ✓ Real players mark on rplist.
Right now 1,496 of the 1,742 servers averaging 10 or more players carry it.
What's checked
- 1A full week on the list
Players on at least 5 of the last 7 days, and at least 10 at once at some point. A brand-new server gets checked after its first week.
- 2Busy evenings, quiet nights
People sleep. On a typical day the quiet hours sit at least 30% below the busy ones (the daily restart hour is ignored, since every server empties then). Big servers with a queue keep people connected overnight, so a smaller dip of 15% passes when the crowd is plainly real elsewhere: 3 or more streamers, or more people online in its Discord than in the game.
- 3Not stuck at the slot limit
At the slot limit less than 85% of the hours it had players, and never more players than it has slots. A count that sits at 2048/2048 all day and all night isn't a crowd.
- 4Seen outside the list
Someone besides the server list can see these players: a Twitch streamer played there in the last 30 days, a visitor pressed Join on rplist, or its Discord is at least as big as its busiest hour. A Discord with fewer than half as many members as players counts against it.
All four must hold. Everything comes from public data: the FiveM and RedM server lists every 10 minutes, Twitch, Discord invites and clicks on rplist.
Questions
- Does no mark mean a server is fake?
- No. Most servers without it are new, small, or don't publish a Discord link rplist can read. The mark only ever says something good about a server; rplist never labels one as fake.
- Does the mark prove there are no bots?
- No. It checks the marks padding usually leaves. A service that copies a real daily rhythm and a real community could pass. It's evidence, not proof, and it's checked again every 10 minutes.
- Can a server buy it or apply for it?
- No. It's worked out the same way for every server, from public numbers, and can't be bought. Sponsored cards on rplist are labelled and never change the ranking or this mark.
- I own a server without the mark. What can I do?
- Make sure rplist can see your community: add your Discord invite to server.cfg (see below). If your server is busy all day and night because of a queue, streamers and a busy Discord are what carry it.
Server owners
The mark is automatic and free. To make sure rplist can read your Discord, add this line to server.cfg and restart:
sets rplist_discord "https://discord.gg/yourinvite"
Servers with the mark show it on their rplist badge and their Wrapped card.
