FiveM server hosting: what you actually need
Most hosting guides start with the biggest plan. Start with the numbers instead: we count players on every live FiveM server every ten minutes, and most servers are much smaller than their owners planned for.
How many players live servers have right now
- 1–96,012
- 10–49990
- 50–99290
- 100–199225
- 200–499149
- 500+50
Players online per server, across every FiveM server with at least one player. Updated hourly from the live list.
What that means for you
6,012 of 7,716 live servers have fewer than 10 people on. A new server almost always starts there. Buy for the next three months, not for launch-day hopes; every good host lets you upgrade in minutes.
1,430 live servers are set to exactly 48 slots, the most common size, and the cap on a standard licence key. Going past it needs a paid Cfx.re tier as well as bigger hardware.
Sizing by player count
A rule of thumb, not a benchmark. FXServer leans on single-core speed, so a fast core beats many slow ones. Heavy scripts and maps move every row up a size.
| Players | CPU | RAM | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 48 players | 4 fast cores | 8 GB | A game-server plan is the easy pick. 48 slots is the most common server size by far. |
| 48–128 players | 6–8 fast cores | 16 GB | Turn on OneSync. Check your licence key's slot limit before you buy the hardware. |
| 128–300 players | 8+ high-clock cores | 32 GB | Dedicated machine or a large VPS. Scripts, not players, are usually what lags. |
| 300+ players | Top single-core speed | 64 GB | Dedicated hardware, a database on its own box, and someone who profiles resources. |
Easiest: a game-server host
You pick a plan, get txAdmin and a panel, and are online in minutes. Right for nearly every server under 128 players. ZAP-Hosting is Cfx.re's long-standing hosting partner and the default choice for first servers.

Rent a machine from a provider like OVHcloud or Hetzner and install FXServer with txAdmin yourself. More work and you own the uptime, but past ~150 players it usually costs less per slot. Pick a location near your players; ping matters more than specs.
