GTA RP on PS5 and Xbox: the console roleplay communities
FiveM is PC-only, so console roleplay happens in GTA Online invite-only sessions run by Discord communities. These are the ones with real players, with member counts straight from Discord.

Member and online counts come from each community's public Discord invite, refreshed hourly. A community with only a Discord listing page shows no count.
Console GTA RP communities, biggest first
Every one of these runs sessions on PlayStation or Xbox, or both. Serious means in-character at all times, with training and departments; semi-serious bends the rules for fun. Links go to the community's own Discord or site.

How console roleplay works
The community's Discord is the server. Staff schedule sessions, a host opens an invite-only GTA Online lobby on their console, members join through the host's friends list or the session post, and everyone stays in character. Police, fire and EMS are departments with ranks, training and a chain of command; civilians run businesses, taxis, gangs or a quiet life with the game's own tools. Rules are enforced by staff and session hosts, not by scripts.
- 1Join the DiscordEvery community on this page starts there. Read the rules channel first: most ban random killing and breaking character, and the big ones ask for a working microphone.
- 2Do the trainingA short course on the rules, radio etiquette and how sessions run. United Network's takes about 45 minutes; others are a quiz. You get a role in Discord when you pass.
- 3Pick a lifeCivilian is the easy start: you need nothing but the game. Departments (police, fire, EMS) take an application and sometimes an age check.
- 4Join a sessionSessions are posted in Discord with a host. Add the host, join their invite-only lobby when it opens, and play in character until it ends.

How it differs from PC servers
A FiveM server adds code: jobs that pay, a phone, a bank, custom cars and maps, voice that drops with distance, and rules that scripts enforce. Console roleplay has none of that. It runs inside GTA Online as Rockstar ships it, so money is GTA money, cars are GTA cars, and voice goes over Discord or party chat. What it has instead is lower cost (no PC) and communities large enough that there is a session most hours of the day.
If you want the scripted kind, it needs a PC and a copy of GTA V: how to join a FiveM server.
What GTA 6 changes
GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, with no roleplay mode announced and no PC version. So the first GTA 6 roleplay won't be a server: it will be communities like these running sessions in GTA 6's online mode from Discord. Communities planning that can list on the GTA 6 RP projects page now, and the GTA 6 RP status page tracks what Rockstar has said about PC and mods.

Questions
- Can you play GTA RP on PS5?
- Yes, in GTA Online. FiveM servers are PC-only, but console communities run roleplay in invite-only GTA Online sessions on PS5 and PS4, organised from Discord. The biggest ones are listed on this page.
- Can you play GTA RP on Xbox?
- Yes, the same way. Communities on this page run sessions on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. Join the Discord, do the training, then play.
- Is console GTA RP free?
- Yes. You need GTA V with GTA Online on your console, a microphone and a Discord account. Communities don't charge to join; some sell cosmetic perks or priority, which you can ignore.
- How do I join a console RP community?
- Join its Discord, read the rules, complete its training (United Network's takes about 45 minutes), pick a department or a civilian life, then join a session from the Discord's session post or the host's friends list.
- Will GTA 6 have RP on PS5 and Xbox?
- GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and no RP mode has been announced. So the first GTA 6 roleplay will be communities organising sessions from Discord, exactly like this page. Communities planning that can list on the GTA 6 RP projects page now.
- What's the difference between console RP and FiveM?
- FiveM servers run their own scripts: jobs, money, phones, custom cars and maps, with rules enforced by code. Console RP is GTA Online as shipped; the roleplay is carried by the players and the community's rules, with voice over Discord or party chat.
