Can you play GTA RP on PS5 or Xbox? No, and here's why

It's the most asked GTA RP question from console players. The short version: the servers you see on Twitch need a PC.

Short answer
No. GTA RP servers run on FiveM, a PC-only mod. PS5, PS4 and Xbox can't connect to them. Console players do a simpler kind of roleplay in GTA Online private sessions, and GTA 6 won't change this at launch.

Why it only works on PC

GTA RP isn't a mode of GTA Online. It runs on community servers through FiveM, which replaces the online part of GTA V with the server's own scripts. Consoles don't allow that kind of modification, so there's no console FiveM and no way to join from a PlayStation or Xbox.

What console players do instead

Crews run roleplay inside GTA Online invite-only sessions: a Discord for rules and characters, voice chat, and an agreement to stay in character. No custom jobs or economy, but it's real roleplay and free with GTA Online.

If you're thinking about switching to PC

You need GTA V on PC and a machine that runs it comfortably; roleplay servers add custom cars and maps, so more RAM helps. Then FiveM is a free download. Start with the open, English servers that aren't full.
